- 1 (8 ounce) package feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (high-quality recommended)
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill, for garnish
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint, for garnish
- Pita bread, vegetables (cucumber, bell peppers, carrots, etc.), or crackers, for serving
Instructions
- Let the feta cheese come to room temperature (about 30 minutes).
- Add the room-temperature feta to a food processor (or stand mixer with paddle attachment).
- Add the olive oil, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Process until completely smooth and creamy (2-3 minutes in a food processor, longer by hand).
- Taste and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the dip to a serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the dip to thicken.
- Before serving, garnish with fresh dill and mint.
- Serve with pita bread, vegetables, or crackers.
Notes
- For an even creamier dip, add 1-2 tablespoons of heavy cream or crème fraîche with the yogurt.
- If using dried herbs instead of fresh, use 1 teaspoon total and remember they are more concentrated.
- Feel free to experiment with different flavors. Lime juice, roasted red peppers, or other herbs can be added.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
