- 500g all-purpose flour
- 10g salt
- 10g sugar
- 7g active dry yeast
- 300ml warm water
- 500g minced beef
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 green peppers, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon red pepper paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
- Olive oil for drizzling
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar.
- Activate yeast in warm water.
- Add yeast mixture to flour and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- While the dough rises, prepare the topping: In a bowl, combine minced beef, chopped onions, tomatoes, green peppers, garlic, tomato paste, red pepper paste, cumin, paprika, red pepper flakes, black pepper, parsley, and mint. Mix well.
- Preheat your oven to 230°C (450°F).
- Divide the dough into 6-8 equal portions.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion into a thin oval shape.
- Spread a generous layer of the meat mixture evenly over each dough base.
- Drizzle a little olive oil over the topping.
- Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the topping is cooked through.
- Serve your homemade Turkish pizza hot.
Notes
- For a spicier lahmacun, add more red pepper flakes.
- Serve with lemon wedges and a side salad.
- You can also grill lahmacun for a smoky flavor.
- Vegetarian lahmacun can be made using lentils or mushrooms as a base.
