Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, pumpkin purée, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and well combined.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Dip each slice of bread into the pumpkin mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated but not soggy.
- Place the coated bread slices onto the heated skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
- Repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.
- Serve warm with maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgent touch.
Notes
- Use day-old bread for best results, as it absorbs the custard better without becoming soggy.
- Cook on medium heat to ensure the inside cooks through while the outside turns golden brown.
