- 4 caps Portobello mushrooms
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- 2 Meyer lemons
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Fresh cracked pepper
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 340°F.
- In a mixing bowl, combine buttermilk, all-purpose flour, and salt until a thick batter forms.
- Dip portobello slices in the batter and fry in batches for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain the cooked fries on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Whisk together mayonnaise and Meyer lemon juice for the lemonnaise, seasoning with salt and pepper.
