Description
This Pear Dump Cake recipe is incredibly easy to make, requiring minimal effort for a delicious, crowd-pleasing dessert. It features tender, cinnamon-spiced pears topped with a golden, buttery cake mix crust, creating a warm and comforting treat perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups sliced pears, peeled and cored (about 6 medium pears)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup milk (optional, for extra moisture)
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel, core, and slice six medium pears. In a large bowl, toss the pears with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Let this mixture sit for about 10 minutes to release juices.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread the pear mixture evenly across the bottom of the greased baking dish, including any syrup.
- Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the pear layer. Do not stir.
- Slowly pour the melted butter over the entire cake mix layer, ensuring even coverage. If there are dry patches, drizzle the optional milk over them.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling around the edges.
- Allow the cake to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm pears for the best texture.
- Letting the pears rest in sugar enhances their flavor and juiciness.
- Ensure the melted butter is evenly distributed over the cake mix to prevent dry spots.
- Serve warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
