  • Author: Anna
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Crispy, golden-brown tortillas wrapped around a cheesy, savory chicken filling. Baked for a lighter, satisfying crunch, these chicken flautas are perfect as a main course, appetizer, or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles
  • ½ cup salsa
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 small flour tortillas (6-inch)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Sour cream, guacamole, or salsa, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, cheese, green chiles, salsa, and all seasonings. Mix well until evenly combined.
  3. Warm tortillas slightly in the microwave for 20-30 seconds to make them pliable.
  4. Spoon about 3 tablespoons of filling down the center of each tortilla.
  5. Tightly roll into a log shape and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  6. Brush or spray the tops lightly with olive oil.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Garnish with cilantro and serve with sour cream, guacamole, or extra salsa.

Notes

  • Rotisserie chicken is a great shortcut for the shredded chicken.
  • Warm tortillas in the microwave for 20-30 seconds to make them easier to roll without cracking.
  • Brush or spray with olive oil before baking to achieve a golden-brown, crispy exterior.
  • Serve with your favorite dips like sour cream, guacamole, or salsa.
  • Flautas can be customized with other fillings like beans, corn, or extra vegetables.
