Irresistibly Delicious Cheesy Thumbprint Appetizers with Hot Pepper Jelly


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks / 226 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 oz (226 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) hot pepper jelly (red or green)

Instructions

  1. Beat softened butter until smooth. Add shredded cheddar and mix until combined. Gradually add flour, salt, and cayenne pepper to form a soft dough.
  2. Shape dough into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart.
  4. Use your thumb or the back of a teaspoon to press a shallow well in the center of each ball.
  5. Bake 12–15 minutes until edges are golden. Cool slightly on a rack.
  6. Spoon a small amount of hot pepper jelly into each indentation. Serve warm or at room temperature.
