Description
This Bold and Flavorful Bourbon Pecan Chicken is a sweet, savory, and nutty Southern-inspired dish made completely without alcohol.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 600–700g)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or butter)
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- ¼ cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- ¼ cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Pat chicken dry and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Lightly dredge in flour, shaking off excess.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (165°F / 74°C). Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, toast chopped pecans for 1–2 minutes until fragrant. Stir often to prevent burning.
- Add vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, broth, and Dijon (if using). Stir well and simmer 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return chicken to the skillet and coat with the sauce. Simmer 2–3 minutes until fully glazed.
- Transfer to plates, spoon sauce and pecans over top, and garnish with parsley. Serve hot.
